Even an Atom's Weight of Kibr (Arrogance) in Your Heart

Kibr (arrogance) is a very dangerous characteristic that, arguably, the overwhelming majority of mankind has, even if only in some small way.

The final messenger to mankind, Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallama, stated:
لا يَدْخُلُ الجَنَّةَ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ مِنْ كِبْرٍ
"The one who has even an atom's weight (mithqaalu tharrah) of kibr (arrogance) in his heart will not enter Paradise."

This is a tremendous hadeeth that we all need to be aware of, learn from, and use as a reminder to cleanse our heart of any and all types of kibr. In this khutbah, we give this hadeeth in full, detailing the Prophetic definition of kibr, and discuss some of the ways we can stay away from this dangerous characteristic.

“That is Allaah, your Lord; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things.  So worship Him, and make your worship exclusively for Him.”

     Quraan, 6:102

Prophetic Hadeeth

"Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day either speak good or be silent. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honour his neighbour. Let whosoever believes in Allah and in the Last Day honour his guest."
